| Eight years ago with the generous gift of Christy and Sakuntala Thiagarajah of Melbourne, Australia the Kodakelle , Nuwara Eliya Lydia Thiagarajah Memorial Children Day Care Centre was started June2000 with 30 children from families in the neighbourhood that urgently needed such help. |

| Since the founding it has become an important landmark in the town and an example of what voluntary humanitarian assistance could mean and make so much difference to children. The project is managed by the JDCSI and today there are 45 children in attendance with four care leaders and assistants to meet the needs of these young people. |

We are delighted Christy and Sakuntala Thiagarajah have gladly come forward to meet the needs of this project and the children for another five years. Christy Thiagarajah is the younger brother of Bishop Daniel Thiagarajah
